What does the queue function do?

With this function it is possible to define galleries only once and have a daily updated thumblog for months without the need to look at it.

With the queue function you can add galleries to a queue. The galleries in the queue are not immediately added to your thumblog. You can specify which galleries and when these galleries will be added to your thumblog. The addition of the galleries to your thumblog will be a automatic process.

This can be very usefull when for example you have a list of Free hosted galleries including description and the like. You just put them all in a text file including some extra information like the date on which the gallery will be added to your thumblog. Then you upload the text file to the queue function. Our system will then add the gallery to your thumblog on the date you did specify.

How can i use it?

To add galleries to the queue you must first create a text file. In this text file you put the url's to the galleries you wish to add and additional information like the thumblog ID, subject and message.

The format is simple:
date|thumblog id|category id|url to gallery|url to image|subject|message

As you can see every field is seperated by a pipe character. I will explain every field:

  • date, this is the date when the specified gallery will be removed from the queue and added to your thumblog. Please use the following format: MM-DD-YY (first month, then day then year)
  • thumblog id, this is the ID of the thumblog in which you want to add the gallery. You can find the ID of a thumblog by going to the Log queue tab and scrolling down to the bottom of the page.
  • category id, this is the ID of the category in which you want to place the gallery. You can find the ID of a thumblog by going to the Log queue tab and scrolling down to the bottom of the page.
  • url to gallery, this is the url at which the gallery can be reached.
  • url to image, this is the url at which the image can be reached (from this image the thumb is generated).
  • subject, the subject
  • message, the message (don't use enters! use <BR>)

Please be sure that you put only one gallery per line. So don't use enters.

A example:

The first 2 galleries will be added to your thumblog at 04-14-05, the last one a month later on 05-14-05.

When you upload the queue file our system validates if it has a valid format. When it doesn't the system will display a error. At the end of the error message is a line number. Please go to that line number and check if you can find the thing you did wrong.

Please note: you can only add a certain number of galleries to your thumblog on one day (currently 15), this is done to because otherwise the visitor will be flooded by free porn. Of course you can just define 1000 galleries in the queue file, but pay attention that only 15 are added to a thumblog on one day.

Tip:

  • Adding a # character at the beginning of a line will cause the system to ignore that line. This can be usefull for comments.
  • A empty line will be ignored by the system.
  • Please be sure that you don't use any pipe characters ( | ) in the message and subject field.
  • If the image which the system uses for generating a thumbnail isn't available when the gallery is moved from the queue to your thumblog then the system will add a entry to your error log. This error log can be viewed going to the Log queue tab and pressing the View error log button.

I've added a couple of galleries to the queue but they aren't added to my thumblog?

Depending on how busy the server is it could take 5 to 30 minutes before galleries from the queue are moved to your thumblog.
