What is a thumblog by the way?

A thumblog is a site on which you can put your favorite galleries. Visitors can visit the galleries by clicking on a preview thumbnail of the gallery. The preview thumbnail is automatic generated. A example says more then words, so: example 1 and example 2.

I've got my own thumblog now where is the money?

There are different ways of making a income with your thumblog. The most used way is to put a banner of a sponsor on your thumblog.

You can put a banner on your thumblog by following the steps below:

  1. Login
  2. Choose a thumblog
  3. Options tab
  4. Boxes tab
  5. Press the change link behind a empty box
  6. A new page will appear, put the HTML code for the banner into the Box field and fill in a name (for example: my new banner). Don't forget to press the Change button to save the changes you've made.
  7. Go to Box Move tab and select the "my new banner" box from the Available boxes list and move it to the left or right. Press the Save button.
  8. Go to the Preview tab to see your thumblog.

Please note: banners shouldn't be too width, please use 180 pixels width or less. Button sized banners will always fit. Sky scraper sized banners also. Of course a text banner most likely will attract more clicks than normal banners.

I've put several banners on my site, can i do more things to get some money?

Yes, you can. Most sponsors offer "Free hosted galleries" (FHG). A FHG is just like a normal gallery, but it is hosted by the sponsor. The only thing you have to do is to get visitors visit the FHG. And what is more easier then just adding a FHG between your favorite galleries, no one will notice it, and when a visitor decides to signup at a sponsor you will get a fair amount of cash.

Is there another way to make more cash?

Of course. You don't always have to log galleries on your thumblog, you can also put text on your thumblog. For example a text promoting a sponsor or a link tip to a site of a sponsor. Be creative!

I've done everything, but i don't have any visitors :( How can i get more visitors?

There are different ways of attracting visitors to your thumblog. The most important one is: trade links. You should always try to get a link on other thumblogs or other sites. This way a visitor visiting another site will click the link and visit your site. The best way to get your link on another thumblog is to contact the webmaster of the thumblog by email or by sending a Private Message (PM), but remember always be nice, don't be rude.

When you want more traffic (amount of visitors) you can also contact webmasters of other sites that are not thumblogs. Some sites have certain rules related to placing a link, please look for them first and be sure to read them before contacting the webmaster.

What about search engines?

A thumblog is optimized to be spidered by a search engine. Which means that a search engine like google will be pleased to list your thumblog in the search result list. You can do many things to get a higher position in the result list. I will list a couple:

  1. Set a good title and meta tags for your thumblog (Looks tab, Start wizard link)
  2. Define text that describes your thumblog in the Info box (Options tab, Info tab, you can use HTML here so be creative)
  3. When you log a gallery don't just put a couple of smileys into the description field, but choose the description carefully, don't use often used words like "free" or "sex" but be creative, search engines will like that.
  4. Google (the biggest search engine in the world) will really like the fact that other sites place links to your site. So be sure that you do your link trades.
